Biography

Carl-A. Fechner is a journalist, filmmaker and producer. Since 1989, he has been the managing director of fechnerMEDIA GmbH. He studied Media Education and received his diploma in 1980 for a research assignment on behalf of Deutsche Welle about media service in Least Developed Countries. Afterwards he was managing director of the theater Berliner Compagnie and worked for the ARD as a foreign correspondent. As head of the editorial department, he is responsible for the content and artistic realization of fechnerMEDIA films and media campaigns.
A selection of his films includes: "Iraq Trilogy" (1990), "Rethinking – From Disarmament to Shared Security" (1993), "The Billion Dollar Waste Deal" (1994), "Solar Architecture for Europe" (1995), "Power Out of the Sun – Biomass as a Source of Energy" (1999), "The Substance for the Future – Energy from Hydrogen" (2000), "The New Power – Renewable Energies in Europe" (2004), "Oceanic Power" (2006), "Wangari Maathai – Mother of the Trees" (2008, co-directed by Alan Dater), and "The 4th Revolution - Energy Autonomy" (2010).
