Biography

Michael Ostrowski, born January 3, 1973, in Leoben, Austria, studied English and French at universities in Graz, Oxford, and in New York. In 1993, the autodidact joined the ensemble of the experimental theatre group "Theater im Bahnhof" in Graz. He remains a member of the group to date. In 2002, the group won the famous Nestroy theatre award.

In the same year, Ostrowski made his movie debut in a leading role in the award-winning drama "Nogo". During the following years, he has regularly appeared in movie and TV productions besides his theatre career.

Ostrowski’s most important films include Michael Glawogger’s comedy "Nacktschnecken" (2004) that was co-written by Ostrowski, the vicious comedy "Slumming", also directed by Glawogger, and the comedic Austrian TV crime series "Vier Frauen und ein Todesfall" (2005 to 2007). The weird stoner road movie "Contact High" (2009), a sequel loosely based on the adventures of the two main protagonists of "Nacktschnecken", marks Ostrowki’s third collaboration with Michael Glawogger.
